AUCTION TO BENEFIT IU SIMON CANCER CENTER RESEARCH RAISES $26,000
Fans and racers at Lucas Oil Raceway this past weekend helped the Andrea Pedregon Charity Foundation "A Spark of Hope" (APCF) raise funds that will benefit the IU Simon Cancer Center's colon and prostate cancer research efforts.
A live auction Sunday evening netted $26,000 for the cause. Bidders won items from team apparel and autographed helmets to car parts and more. Unique items included a custom-built Harley-Davidson powered motorcycle and a once-in-a-lifetime NASCAR Cup racing package. All of the auction items were generously donated by APCF supporters.
One hundred percent of the auction's proceeds will go to the IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis for colon and prostate cancer research. APCF has been raising awareness and funds for the cause all year, with more than $20,000 raised earlier through sales of the 2012 NHRA Yearbook. The foundation will present the donation to the Cancer Center at the end of year.
Founder Andrea Pedregon said, "We are so fortunate to have such generous supporters. I can't thank our donors, volunteers, and of course our bidders enough! This is a great boost for our colon and prostate cancer research fundraising.
Tony Pedregon Racing Looking to Soar at the Mile High Nationals
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 16, 2013) – Tony Pedregon Racing and American Racing Custom Wheels will once again compete at the 2013 Mile High Nationals in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series in Denver, Colorado July 19-21.
Pedregon has previously won this event in ’98 and ’99 and held the No. 1 qualifying position in 2001. Most recently the team’s consistency of qualifying at the last two events with a 4.09 and 4.10 gives Pedregon high hopes going into the weekend. “The high elevation creates a different challenge for every team. Now with a little bit of consistency we will have to rely on our experience and past success in this thin air”, said Pedregon.
“Our company’s very first wheels were built for drag racing back in the 1950s,” said American Racing Marketing Director Rhett Sander. “Our heritage and history are closely tied to drag racing”.
